A BILL to amend article three, chapter five-a of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section fifty-six, relating to prohibiting state purchases of information technology equipment constructed of flammable materials.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article three, chapter five-a of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section fifty-six, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 3. PURCHASING DIVISION.

§5A-3-56. Division prohibited from purchase of flammable information technology equipment.

No purchase or agreement to purchase, on behalf of a state governmental agency or office, of information technology equipment may be consummated or authorized by the division unless the equipment meets or exceeds safety standards for fire resistance established by underwriters laboratories, incorporated or the equivalent international electrotechnical commission.

prohibit state purchases of information technology equipment constructed of flammable materials.
